I personally had a hell of a time trying to beat this guy. just trying to see what stradegies other people have.

Nice game! Have had fun playing it so far, but now I'm stuck on the final boss (Vulcan).
For some reason, magic skills seem to do no damage to him. Occasionally, there's a stun animation (e.g. when I cast lightning spells), but otherwise there's no sign of any effect (damage numbers or reduced health meter). All spells seem to be affected.
Nor does changing my position help -- I've tried sending in the pet, standing behind the boss and casting only while he's facing away from me. No luck.
Is this a bug, or could someone provide some helpful advice? Thanks!

lol i schould have no prob with the obss.. im not there yet but. i got 10000 magic and 1500 attack 5000 defence and 3000 agility .  lol XD played th hcked version. and while i loggd in here i got the hacked characther

dude get a pet u dont like level it up with alot of HP us it as a decoy and as for wepons razor sword, as for armor.....i forget what its called...sorry and use posin it helps posin,heal and the meele attacks

the boss stradegy i use is to get lightning strike and lightning trap in the skills menu and trap him with a lightning trap (with you on the opposite side of the trap than the boss(so it walks to it))at the same time use the lightning strike to hit him.no body gets hurt exept the boss.(and your pet if on aggressive or assist.if you have thunder dome you can substitute for thunder strike.

Not if your stats go into Magic.
The most effective way I killed Vulcan was make golden shurikens (You should have a few gold ores by the end of the game) and in a few shots he was dead. Too easy if you ask me, I also tried without shurikens and he was still too easy. I wonder why the final boss in most games are always a disappointment...
